Red Nose Day at school

Friday 29th August.

Can you guess what's on today?  RED NOSE DAY.We are raising  money for the kids with cancer and other illnesses. We sold out of our red noses, jelly beans and wrist bands. That's a lot of donations. We also brought gold coins for the money to go to the children.
 People in a lot of red got a photo taken to be put in our school news letter.Today I wore, a red dress, red nail polish and bought a red nose. I'm really into helping people with bad illnesses.For people who don't have cancer its just a red nose but for the people who do it's a cure. If you want to help, donate every year and make sure it counts.I love donating to people with bad illnesses. I LOVE RED NOSE DAY!

Irene Van Dyke

Irene Van Dyk visited our school on Tuesday 26th August. She is a famous New Zealand netball player and she is really, really tall. She has played for 2 countries - South Africa and New Zealand. She has played for New Zealand 72 times and was thought of as the best goal shoot in the world, which was very lucky for us. Her talk to the school inspired us to keep trying and to never give up. She said that her mother was the one who helped her to achieve her dream. She has also been a teacher but had to give up because it was too hard to teach and play netball as well. She was born on June 21st 1972 which makes her 42. I thought she was very inspiring and funny.

Accelerated Learning in Maths

The ALiM Maths group celebrated their final Maths day with a parents' morning. Our parents came and saw us play some of the  maths games we enjoyed playing.The children received certificates and had a special morning tea to share with their parents.There was a big turnout of parents and a lot of fun was had by all.

The children have all worked very hard over the last 10 weeks and made big gains in their Maths learning. I am very proud of them all.
